Let us sing with Mary:
Mary said:
“My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord;
my spirit rejoices in God my savior.
for he has looked upon his lowly servant.
Rejoice in God. Again, I say rejoice in God
God is near. God is with us.
God dwells deep down within us.
My Son became human
So that you might become divine.
I have nothing on my own.
I am a lowly servant.
I am empty and naked before God.
God gifts my emptiness with joy-life.
God is within me.
God above me. God below me.
God all around me.
From this day all generations will call me blessed:
the Almighty has done great things for me,
and holy is his Name.
When I let go and let God,
Others will see the power of God
Working in and through me.
God must increase.
I must decrease.
I must abandon my false programs for happiness.
God fills my every need
And others called me blessed.
I need no weapons or defenses
Because God is my all.
All is gift–pure gift.
God has indeed blessed me
With life, health and wholeness.
He has mercy on those who fear him
in every generation.
God is merciful.
God is infinite mercy.
God is unbounding compassion.
God is life.
God is love.
God IS.
I AM.
I am in God.
I fear God.
I tremble before God
And God’s infinite love for me.
He has shown the strength of his arm,
and has scattered the proud in their conceit.
The proud, the haughty, and the greedy
Sense the strength of God.
Sometimes they repent.
They turn their lives around.
They surrender to God.
They admit their nothingness
Before God’s strength.
Sometimes they do not
And God leaves them
To their greed and misery–
Always seeking but never finding.
Scattered in their own search
For fulfillment, life and meaning.
He has cast down the mighty from their thrones
and has lifted up the lowly.
God loves every person.
Every person is created in God’s image.
Every person is precious to God.
God has a special care for the poor.
They, having little,
And sometimes lacking food and shelter,
Have opened themselves to God and God’s love.
God lifts them up.
God blesses them.
Their poverty is their wealth.
He has filled the hungry with good things,
and the rich he has sent away empty.
God hears the cries of the poor.
God sends us to help fulfill their needs.
God is moved to gut-wrenching compassion
When God sees human misery and suffering.
God comes to them in their distress.
God fills them up with good things.
God is their health and salvation.
The rich are empty cisterns.
God lets their greed redound upon them.
God sends them away empty.
He has come to the help of his servant Israel
for he remembered his promise of mercy,
the promise he made to our fathers,
to Abraham and his children for ever.”
God comes to God’s people.
God is their help and shield.
God is faithful.
God is our hope.
God keeps the covenant.
God keeps God’s promises.
God delivers God’s people from oppression.
God gives sight to the blind.
God sees free the captives.
God liberates the oppressed.
God feeds the hungry.
God gives drink to the poor.
God shelters the homeless.
God cares for the sick.
God visits the imprisoned.
God welcomes the immigrant.
We are God’s love and care.
God is love!
Mary remained with Elizabeth about three months
and then returned to her home.
Mary, knowing Elizabeth’s advanced years
Sets out over rugged terrain
For the long journey
From Nazareth to Ein Karem.
Mary serves Elizabeth.
Mary shows us how to serve others.
Mary helps us sing her Magnificat
day in and day out
When convenient and inconvenient
In season and out of season.
Mary brings blessings of hope.
Mary brings us Jesus
Who dwells within us
And loves us into life.
Come, Jesus, come!
